Irish folk rock from Boston, how does that work? In Boston (Massachusetts, USA), due to the many descendants of Irish immigrants, there is a large Irish community in addition to numerous pubs, which also likes to celebrate in bagpipe parades on St. Patrick's Day. That's how the boys of Dropkick Murphys got together in 1996. With their unique combination of punk rock, Irish folks and hardcore punk, they created an explosive and danceable mix that quickly made them famous outside the city limits of Boston. Besides classical band instruments, the band's sound is characterized by the fact that they also use folk instruments from their homeland. They are supported live by bagpipes, accordion, mandolin and banjo.

Their international breakthrough came with the song "I'm Shipping Up to Boston", which was not only used by Martin Scorsese for his classic "Departed - Unter Feinden", but also by the Simpsons. This was followed by many tours around the world. They are also always a welcome guest at festivals. So they regularly perform at Rock am Ring and numerous other festivals in Europe. But there is one thing they always stay true to despite all the hustle and bustle around the band: Since 2001 they have been performing every year at the St-Patrick's-Day-Festival in their home town of Boston.
Dropkick Murphys came up with an unusual idea to promote their song "Rose Tattoo". They asked their fans to get the band's logo tattooed and then film the process. This dedication of the fans was then rewarded by a compilation of the works in the music video for the song.
