Hardly any other band makes such an effort for their stage presence and external presentation as the Swedes of Ghost. The centre of the band is singer Tobias Forge, who leads the band as pope or cardinal. During the various album releases of the band, the figure of the Papa Emeritus has constantly evolved and reached different stages.

If you have Ghost, you have everything

Except for singer Tobias Forge no other members are known. He is always supported live by various "nameless ghouls" whose identity is unknown. Many myths surround them, among others it is assumed that ex-Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl was behind the drums at some concerts. Also the identity of singer Papa Emeritus was still a secret until 2017. As a result of a legal dispute with former "nameless ghouls" it became known that Tobias Forge is behind the mask of the Pope. 

Although their masks and stage outfits look very gloomy, Ghost play with this antithesis in their music, as their music is dark and doomy, but above all lives from the catchy singing. With this exciting combination they are not only well received by their fans, but even won a Grammy for their incomparable stage show.  Not only the outfits are part of the show, but also a complex stage setup, which is often oriented on the appearance of a church. A special highlight is always the end of a pope's term of office, when the successor is introduced during a live show or music video.
