As the founder of horror punk, Misfits early on practised mixing punk rock with visual and textual themes from horror films. Thus they attracted attention especially with their elaborate stage costumes and the unusual stage performance of singer Glenn Danzig. Their early works influenced a whole generation of young punk and metal bands, all of whom emulated the horror vibe band, but could never bring it on stage as the founders did. Especially their logo, the Misfits skull, has become an integral part of the punk scene. Even today you can find it on many punk frocks and shirt designs. The horror phoenix from the ashes
While Glenn Danzig turned away from the band after quarrels to devote himself to other projects, the remaining Misfits remained active for the time being. But the ongoing disputes with Gdansk, which also led to legal disputes, caused the band to disintegrate over the years and was forced to take breaks more often. Due to the many crew changes, the band quickly lost track of who was playing in the band at the time. So during the tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the band, some well-known musicians of the punk rock scene were part of the all-star line-up. During this time the band received support on stage from members of Black Flag, Slayer and the Ramones.
In 2016 the Misfits were reunited in their original line-up for the first time in 33 years. The disputes of the past decades have been settled and Glenn Danzig is finally leading the shock punks again. The fans are thrilled and are finally looking forward to new music from the cult band again.
